I also collaborated with Lodge Productions in the UK to produce this wonderful lyric video, inspired by my love for all things sci-fi/big city/Blade Runner. The animation and primary video content was created by Lodge Productions, featuring portrait photos of me by Anabel DFlux, video footage by Karuna Tanahashi, and Map of the World eye photos by me! The Full Story…
L.A.-based singer/songwriter/guitarist Daniel Corey is a well-rounded artist who has tried his hand at many different disciplines, all of which have led to the upcoming release of his premiere single, Nearsighted.
For years, Daniel has operated under the name of his alter ego, DangerKatt, creating comic series that have been published by powerhouse publisher Image Comics, screenplays that have netted 50 first-place awards from film festivals all over the world, and his award-winning conceptual photo series, Map of the World.
In addition to these pursuits, Daniel has been recognized as an innovator who created some of the earliest explorations of Augmented Reality in comics, and was ranked #2 on Onalytica’s Top 100 VR Influencer list for his role in collaborating with Transmedia Entertainment to produce one of the first VR comic books. In the midst of all of this, Daniel has spent years honing his craft as a musician.

Nearsighted is a unique song that brings a retro-70s Americana vibe, while delivering a contemporary message about the nature of disappointment and heartbreak in an (almost) post-pandemic world. Daniel considers his music to be a love letter to artists like Daniel Lanois, Paul Simon, U2, Sting, Peter Gabriel, REM, Beta Radio, Fruit Bats, and Elbow. In that spirit, Nearsighted handily showcases Daniel’s knack for melodic fingerstyle, memorable melodies, and weighty lyrics.
“Personally, I have always wanted to create art in many different media, but music has always been the core thing in my life,” Daniel says. “I initially created DangerKatt as an umbrella for all of my artistic pursuits. It really all came together when I started with Map of the World, which explores human eyes and motivation in extreme close-up. Nearsighted is a song about vision and direction in life. The futuristic visuals combined with the retro vibe of the music make a sort of ‘Cyber-Americana’ that has been driving my output for the past several years.”
Daniel credits much of the success of Nearsighted to his producers, Alexx Calise and Dennis Morehouse, who themselves comprise the internationally successful modern rock duo, Batfarm. Daniel says: “Alexx and Den are very gifted as musicians, songwriters and producers, and I particularly love that they also have a streak of retro sensibility that merges with their own specific take on futurism. Working with them was a no-brainer, and an excellent fit. I am blessed to know them.”
Nearsighted is now available on all online music platforms. Expect more music from Daniel soon, and be on the lookout for his upcoming Map of the World photo book, which will be available later this year.
